Downham Market YFC Committee 2023/24

The committee helps keep the club running smoothly, taking your ideas and views on board to better the club and make decisions to benefit everyone. They run alongside the advisory board, who are generally ex young farmers and can offer us valuable advice and guidance.

Club Chairman - Nathan Payne

I enjoy meeting new people and have good connections with the other clubs. I joined young farmers last year to make new friends go and learn about different things not just about farming. I would recommend young farmers to anyone who might be interested.

Vice Chair & Programme Secretary - Abby Neale

I joined young farmers in October 2023 to make new friends and socialise with new people. Since joining I have met many new people and been able to get involved in new activities. I would recommend young farmers to anyone.

Secretary & Competitions - Matthew English

Hiya I’m Matthew! I work for G’s Growers as a tractor driver. I enjoy going clay pigeon shooting, beating over the shooting season and watching Norwich City FC play. I follow all kinds of motor racing including the Brisca F1s. I have been a member of DMYFC for 6 years.

Treasurer - Ellie Bruce

Hey! My name is Ellie. I work with my Mum, arranging training courses. I first joined Young Farmers to meet new friends and have fun. When I’m not working, you’ll find me walking my cocker spaniel Maggie!

Social Secretary - Henry Albutt

Hi I’m Henry, I joined young farmers in September to meet new like-minded people. I enjoy the weekly meetings and helping out at the events. I am not afraid to get stuck in with competitions and I enjoy going to the socials.

Press Secretary & H&S Officer - Joanna Foster

Hi my name is Joanna, I joined young farmers to get new experiences and meet new people. I work on ambulances and find my job really rewarding. Outside of young farmers, I enjoy going clay shooting with my dad.

Committee Member - Emma Gott

I have been in the club for the last year. I really enjoy going to the weekly meetings and meeting new people. Outside of young farmers, I am training to become a hairdresser which I enjoy. I also help out on my family farm and like walking my dog.

Committee Member - Ashlyn Huggins

I joined young farmers in 2022 because I wanted to meet new people and make new friends. I’m a committee members. In my spare time I walk dog’s and i enjoy eating out with my friends.

Committee Member - Harry Wiffen

Hi, I’m Harry Wiffen! I currently work for my family business and am inspired to be a digger driver. I play hockey for Wisbech town and enjoy shooting. I have been a member of the club for the past 4 years and I am currently competitions secretary and I joined Young Farmers to have a laugh.

Committee Member - Chloe Bilverstone

Hi! I’m Chloe Bilverstone, I am assistant manager on a pig farm. I joined young farmers to make new friends and I enjoy learning new things at the meetings. I have been a member on and off for a few years. In my spare time I enjoy visiting new places and walks with my dog Bailey.

Committee Member - Elliot Watson

Hello, I’m Elliot and I am a civil servant. I have been a part of DMYFC for 8 years, throughout these years I have had various roles such as vice chairman and chairman. I joined YF to make new friends with people of similar interests. My hobbies include going to watch football and I am a fan of Norwich city Football Club.

Advisory

Club President - Ian Cable

Day Job: Architectural and Building Consultant.

I joined Downham Market YFC when I was 16 whilst studying for my A levels, though not directly involved in farming, farming is all around us and I had friends from farming families and subsequently made many more farming and non farming friends through YFC. Whilst at University I joined Sodbury Vale YFC, before returning to Norfolk. When no longer young enough to be an active member I was asked to join the club advisory committee, becoming Club Leader for a number of years, Vice President and now Club President. I am very proud to be associated with YFC and Downham Market in particular, a fantastic organisation and local club. ‘You don’t have to be one to be one!’

Vice President - James Lankfer

I have been involved in Young Farmers for serval years and have supported the club in lots of ways. I run the annual Car Treasure Hunt and offer my advice and support to the committee in any way I can.

Club Leader - Kate Farr

I joined Young Farmers in 2016 and have held various roles within the committee such as Programme, Vice Chair and Chair. Taking on this role enables me to continue to support and advise the club whilst helping it grown for future generations.
